Summary:
We are seeking a full-time elementary teacher to join our team at Rainier Elementary School. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching and have experience working with K-5 students. The candidate must be able to create a positive and engaging learning environment for students.

    • 180 day contract (7 hours/day, 5 days/week) - prorated for start date
    • Start Date: Immediately
    • Eligible for medical/dental/vision benefit through the School Employees Benefit Board (Division of the WA State Health Care Authority)

    • Salary: per 24/25 REA Salary Schedule to be determined. 2024-2025 Salary Schedule Essential Functions:
      • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible
      • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health
      • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities
      • Work as a team member in preparing for and implementation of the Common Core
      • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
      • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate
      • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations Qualifications:
        • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with proper endorsement(s) for level of instruction
        • WSP-FBI background/fingerprint clearance required Requirements:
          • Strong skills, background and extensive training in your area of endorsement
          • Demonstrated proficiency in writing and oral communication skills
          • Demonstrated ability to connect with students, staff and community members in a mutually respectful, supportive and accessible manner
          • Knowledge of curriculum, education code, and district policies
          • Knowledge of and/or experience related to the state mandated testing and assessment
          • Develop, modify, adjust curriculum to meet the individual needs of students
          • Provide age-appropriate communication with students on instructional expectations and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations
          • Willingness to benefit from building supervision, evaluation programs and professional development
          • Manage the behavior of learners in instructional setting to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process and assist and participate in management of student behavior in other parts of the school and school grounds
          • Ability to prepare students for a successful school experience
          • Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural, developmental, religious and ethnic diversity of students, staff, and community
          • Must be punctual and dependable, able to work well and collaborate with others
          • Coordinate instructional activities and collaborates with other professional staff both school and non-school based, as required to maximize learning opportunities
          • Follow School Board policies and procedures
          • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
          • Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods, perform a variety of specialized tasks, maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel, meet schedule and deadlines
          • Position may entail lifting/carrying 25lbs, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/field of vision
