Job Description:
Job Description Amazon Web Services (AWS) Hardware Engineering
is a leading-edge product development team that creates enterprise
compute and storage server designs for our innovative web service
and e-commerce technology platforms. Our designs are
industry-leading in terms of performance, frugality, and
operational excellence, and are critical to the success of the AWS
business and the hundreds of thousands of customers who use utility
computing today. We are seeking experienced Thermal/Mechanical
Engineers to build the next generation of our cloud platforms. Our
success depends on our truly innovative server infrastructure;
we’re handling massive scale and rapid integration of emergent
technologies. What you will do: As a member of the Hardware
Engineering Mechanical/Thermal/Robotics (MTR) Engineering team
you’ll be responsible for the design of our server platforms.
You’ll provide leadership in the application of new cooling and
mechanical technologies to large scale server deployments in a
continuous effort to deliver a world-class customer experience.
This is a fast-paced, challenging position, and you’ll work with
thought leaders in multiple technology areas. You’ll have
relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work
with, and you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve your
products performance, quality and cost. You’ll need to understand
when a change in technology enables a completely different way of
approaching server design. We’re changing an industry, and we want
team members who are ready for this challenge and want to reach
beyond what is possible today. Why it matters: AWS Global Cloud
Infrastructure is the most secure, extensive, and reliable cloud
platform, offering over 200 fully featured services from data
centers globally. Whether customers need to deploy application
workloads across the globe in a single click, or want to build and
deploy specific applications closer to end-users with single-digit
millisecond latency, AWS provides the cloud infrastructure where
and when its needed. With millions of active customers and tens of
thousands of partners globally, AWS has the largest and most
dynamic ecosystem. Customers across virtually every industry and of
every size, including start-ups, enterprises, and public sector
organizations, are running every imaginable use case on AWS. We
continually need to deploy newer, innovative, and more efficient
and cost effective hardware. Your work will drive efficiency and
significant cost savings while improving the performance and
reliability of our websites and services. Your work will touch
development teams and customers around the world. You will
demonstrate a working knowledge of mechanical and thermal systems,
with experience in systems integration of complex server products.
You’ll have the desire to learn from new challenges and the problem
solving and communication skills to work within a highly
interactive and experienced team. Candidates must show a hands-on
passion for their work and be able to communicate their ideas and
concepts both verbally, and visually. Candidates must demonstrate
an ability to integrate feedback and to respond quickly to changing
contexts and work environments. AWS Infrastructure Services owns
the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global
infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud
running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers,
storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our
customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We
work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables
impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people
who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware,
and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts,
operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with
people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for
safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at
the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience
an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to
own them to completion. Key job responsibilities * Perform
mechanical and thermal design and development for complex
electronic systems * Design and validate systems and subsystems to
meet program objectives * Participate in the cross-discipline
design process working with other HW and SW team members to develop
optimized integrated solutions * Conduct failure analysis and
solution validation for product development and fleet systems *
