Currently we are looking for a part time Phlebotomist to work for our Olympia location. The Mobile Phlebotomist - MAP will perform a variety of specimen collection techniques from patients, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living locations, and client's facilities. Additional duties specific to location may include: reception, collection of billing information, specimen processing and client and customer service duties. Performs all tasks in accordance with the Company's safety and compliance programs and professionally represents PACLAB/PAML and Affiliates to the community by providing high quality courier services for all clients. Requisition #12508132 Responsibilities: -Daily operation of company owned vehicles and equipment. -Performs a variety of routine blood drawing procedures, to include venipuncture and capillary techniques, using standard equipment such as vacutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, syringes and butterfly needles. -Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. -Phlebotomy procedures on difficult geriatric, adult and child patient base and Stat services. -Good stamina " ability to lift bulky containers up to 45 pounds, excessive driving, extended periods of standing or walking and climbing stairwells. -To adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals: of improving the accuracy of patient identification by requiring: (1) the use of at least two patient identifies (neither to be the patients location) whenever collecting laboratory samples or blood products, and (2) use two identifiers to label sample collection containers in the presence of the patient. -Completes test requisition to include patient demographics, accurate required billing information, and transcription of client test orders. -Centrifuges blood specimens as necessary to maintain specimen integrity. -Processes, labels and stores, specimen samples for subsequent analysis. -Maintains inventory of supplies, reordering as required; stocks supplies on carts and hand trays. -Performs various quality control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations. -Operates Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) for entry of patient demographics, test orders, billing information. -Frequently uses hand held device, office equipment including telephone, computer, fax, etc. Perform telephone and other clerical duties. -Maintains a safe and sanitary work environment. Perform light cleaning of work area. -May perform specialized collection to include breath alcohol testing and hair collection. -Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: -High school diploma or GED. -Valid and active Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist (MAP) Certificate; or currently enrolled in a Phlebotomy training program through an accredited post-secondary school or college as required by the WA State Department of Health (DOH) and have submitted your MAP application to the WA DOH. -Ability to perform standard phlebotomy procedures and techniques. -Knowledge of appropriate blood processing and handling procedures. -Ability to accurately complete and maintain administrative documents and records. -Ability to understand and follow specific clinical protocols, specifications and procedures. -Knowledge of relevant clinical and patient care regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. -Self-motivated and responsible, ability to work without direct supervision. -Knowledge of computer operating systems and other computer application software. -Ability to prioritize work volumes. -Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written. -Available to provide emergency support to staff members if reuqir3ed. -Valid drivers license and good driving record. -Must be at least 21 years of age. Preferred Qualifications: -Experience in the reference laboratory industry. -One (1) + years experience in a mobile phlebotomy position. -Experience in client service industries or related field. -Extensive knowledge of the geographic area.
